Summary: Saul continues to pursue David as his heart desires, but David pursues justice, and righteousness in defending the Keilah. David makes a covenant with Jonathan and then is rescued from the armies of Saul by an invasion of the Philistines.
ReplyDeleteApplication: LORD God, let me y conversation of prayer to you and guidance from you be that of David. Let me not be like Saul, constantly asking “Let my will be done” but be like David, asking “Lord, what will do you have for me?” Let me give complete surrender to you for all my life.
Summary:
ReplyDeleteDavid asked God what he should do about the Philistines attacking and stealing from the people of Keilah. God said to… David’s men were scared and didn’t want to go… God said go again and they did and won easily. A Keilah person told Saul that David was in Keilah and so Saul figured God gave David to him. David escaped again and hid in the wilderness. Yet again someone told Saul where David was and so again Saul figured God was giving David to him and said to the men “Lord bless you.” Saul was hot on David’s tail, however the Philistines started attacking Israel so Saul and his men had to go back and fight them instead.
Application:
God, I need to always ask You what I should do and never assume I know best and then ask your opinion after the fact. God, even though those around me might question Your direction, help me to stand strong and not be afraid when You direct me. Some people around me might say they are with God, but they are lying and using Your name to endorse their sins. Lord, I hope I am never a man who goes to you after seeking my will, but only a man who does what You want of me.
